Turn it off
Amazon says these settings are device-specific, so repeat them on each Fire TV.1

- Turn off Collect App Usage Data. This covers when you open and close third-party apps and how long you use them.1

- On a smart TV with Fire TV built in, also turn off the over-the-air viewing data option in the same menu.Amazon describes it as what you watch through an antenna connected directly to the TV.1 On a 2025 Hisense set, Consumer Reports saw it combined with app usage, as Collect App and Over-the-Air Usage Data.2
On certain Fire TV smart TVs you can manage the same settings from your Amazon account at amazon.com/mycd, under Privacy Settings › Amazon Devices Privacy.1 On 2025 sets, Consumer Reports also found a Manage Sharing From Apps option, which stops third-party apps sending viewing information to Amazon, and an option to reset the advertising ID.2

What the switches leave on
From Amazon's FAQ and Consumer Reports' tests.
Why there's no ACR switch
According to Consumer Reports, Amazon says it doesn't use ACR to track all the shows you watch and doesn't collect data through a cable box or other non-Amazon device plugged into the TV. Fire TV does collect what you watch with an antenna and in streaming apps on the platform.2
That's what the usage data and over-the-air switches cover.1
What keeps going
With Device Usage Data off, Amazon still collects data to run features such as Parental Controls and the Recents row, still sends you marketing offers, though they may be less relevant, and still processes your use of Amazon services such as Prime Video.1
Prime Video and other apps have their own privacy settings.1
